Riot once developed an interaction in which Yasuo can remove Shaco from the game completely by using his W – Wind Wall.
Recently, Riot August – Leader of the Champion Design team of Riot Games shared on his Twitter about the original concept designs of some of the champions that he took part in their development. The original concepts for Shaco or Ekko might make fans amuse by their level of “brokenness” or the number of special interactions that could happen in League of Legends. For example, Yasuo once can delete Shaco from the game by using his W.
“One of my favorite design moments: We were testing a Shaco R that turned him into missiles that spawned clones on nearby enemies. A Yasuo wind walled ALL the Shaco missiles, quite literally deleting Shaco from the game. Everyone stopped playing and gave him a standing ovation.”
It was at the end of 2019 that Riot Games brought a set of changes and updates for Shaco, it could very possible that the changes Riot August mentioned were the original plan for this champion at the time. The original version may have experienced too many bugs or unintended interactions so it was replaced by the current skill set of this champion.
Another champion that August mentioned in his Tweet was Ekko. As he was the “father” of this champion, who directly designed this AP Assasin, August is still keeping screenshot of the very first version of Ekko’s game-breaking original passive.
“Every third Attack or damaging Ability on the same target deals an additional magic damage. If the target is a champion, Ekko steals Move Speed from them for 2 seconds. He then heals for 30% of the health he lost over the last 4 seconds and his next attack will teleport him to any champion on screen asides from the original target. This effect can’t trigger on the same enemy more than once every 3 seconds.
Moreover, he also shared that Ekko’s Ultimate used to Cleanse all his debuffs – including Zed’s Ultimate. Luckily, these are just original concepts that weren’t include in the game, or we will have to see a lot more game-breaking champions rampaging around the Rift.
