Both the cosmetic and gameplay components of Ahri are undergoing significant modifications
With patch 12.2 just arrive on the live server today, Riot Games is already planning ahead with patch 12.3, bringing Ahri a huge “refresh.” Riot announced this “mini-rework” earlier this month at the League team’s devs update.
According to a tweet from August Browning, Riot’s champion designer, Ahri’s updates would push towards her into being a mobile mage champion, all four of her skills, as well as her passive, will be modified.
The refresh will include modifications to the ultimate, Spirit Fire, which will include a reset mechanic as well as increased mobility for her. In addition, her passive, Essence Theft, is the most recognizable since it will be totally reworked.
Ahri’s passive in Patch 12.3 will let her gather “Essence Fragments” from minions and monsters. She will restore 40 to 120 health and gain 25% of her AP after collecting nine fragments. When Ahri kills an opponent champion within the first 3s damaging them, she will additionally heal even more, giving players the urge to build an assassin playstyle.
Her modified ultimate is linked to this improved version of her passive. When she uses her passive to devour an enemy champion’s essence, Spirit Fire (R) will receive an additional charge and its duration will be increased.
Aside from those big changes, buffs and nerfs are also implemented to the rest of her kit. The damage output of Fox-Fire (W) has been buffed, along with the lower mana cost. To compensate, the mana cost of Ahri’s Orb of Deception (Q) will be raised at higher levels, and the damage amplification connected with Charm (E) will be removed from the game.
When these modifications go live, Ahri will also receive visual and sound enhancements to all of her skins, in addition to the significant gameplay update. According to the game’s official patch schedule, the refresh will be available with League Patch 12.3, which will be released on February 2.
