Not long ago, the Riot dev Twitter account informed fans that, despite being promised, game mode Nexus Blitz would not be returning to the League of Legends client before the end of 2022. Unrelated development on a different area of the game, unfortunately, affected some of the UI experience.
However, as we approach League season 2023, the development team is finally focusing on bringing some diversity back to the client.
League data mine discovered potential game mode Nexus Blitz files
Riot used to offer some of the best rotating event game modes available, but in recent years, fans have grown bored of seeing the same three or four ones over and over. This might change in 2023.
SkinSpotlights found some intriguing additions to the PBE files. One such item was the addition of a script that addressed Nexus Blitz. The script mentions ‘Nexus Blitz Shop Keeper,’ which might suggest that we will finally have Nexus Blitz in 2023!
Though you shouldn’t get your hopes up just yet, because Nexus Blitz was promised to players in 2022 but Riot failed to bring the game mode back owing to the files being corrupted in some manner and the team working on recreating them, as previously mentioned.
However, based on the most recent series of Tweets from the Riot dev account, as well as their upcoming announcement of a blog post on game modes, we might see the team begins working on some new and enhanced rotating modes in League of Legends.
Also, the community has previously recommended bringing back Dominion or Twisted Treeline as rotating game modes, but if these map files have also been altered with, it may be impossible to bring them back.
