Yesterday, Riot Games announced that there will be only one reworked champion in 2021, Dr. Mundo, and the champion that has just been voted to rework,Udyr, will be rescheduled to early 2022. The initial cause affecting the progress of Riot Games is because of the global pandemic COVID-19.
Having received this news, many players who love Udyr are also less disappointed because at least Udyr has not been reworked yet as being a hot pick in the meta after years of being abandoned by the gammer community.
On the other hand, Riot Games still informed that it will keep the launch schedule of 3 new Viego-related champions in 2021. This has leaded many gamers to wonder and speculate that Riot Games will do this for the profit earned from releasing new champions. As the profit they get from new champion launch will be higher than the amount spent on reworking on old champions.
After seeing the community getting more and more responsive, Riot Reave confirmed the rumor above was not true. Additionally, they also confirmed that the champion design team has the main goal is to increase the in-game experience, not profit, which also means that the team wants most is to attract more players for LoL.
Riot’s reduction in champion rework projects is because every remake of a champion leading to a certain number of players give up on playing LoL, which goes against the design team’s goal.
Riot also admits that the skin release for champions is much more profitable compared to this, so the community doesn’t need to worry much about Riot’s profit which reduces and affect the quality of the champions in LoL.
