In the near future, we will be able to hear music, playlist, and podcasts from League of Legends via Spotify.
The Multiyear Partnership Between Riot and Spotify
“Music and story-telling have become an intrinsic part of our sport and game, so we are excited to partner with Spotify to provide our fans with another platform where they can enjoy a new manifestation of League of Legends esports,” said Naz Aletaha, Head of Global Esports Partnerships, Riot Games. It’s not just a normal thing where developers or music makers release songs on Spotify, it will be a completely refreshing experience.
Rather than only using Youtube as a streaming platform to publish content, Riot announced they have signed a multiyear partnership with Spotify. From now on, Spotify will become the official audio and music streaming partner for LoL eSports Events (World Championship, Mid-Season Invitational, All-Star). To celebrate the first-of-its-kind collaboration, they will produce a behind the scene video to give viewers and listeners an in-sight look of the way they create the World Championship Anthem. Currently, they have already released tons of great albums and playlists to enjoy.
“Our partnership with Riot Games will create a first-of-its-kind audio universe for the millions of Spotify and League of Legends fans across the globe. As the exclusive — and first-ever — global audio service partner for League of Legends Esports, we plan to create the best possible audio streaming experience for our users, making discovering both music and podcasts easier than ever before,” said June Sauvaget, Global Head of Consumer and Product Marketing, Spotify.
The main objective of Riot is to create immersive experiences for the League of Legends community throughout the world, currently, their plans are to deliver:
- Official LoL Esports Music Hub: They will gather every song that they have created into a complete channel, including music, podcasts, and playlists inspired by the community. There will be one special playlist, which is “Road to Worlds”, feature some top songs that are selected by professional teams.
- Exclusive and Original Podcasts: They will keep creating more and more exclusive series, make fans feel more intact with their favorite players. The first series to come out will be “Untold Stories: Top Moments from Worlds” where each episode will tell a completely unique and distinct story from each Worlds (From 1 to 10).
- More Music Moments: Are you interested in Behind the Scene kind of videos? You have found the right place. Not only you are able to enjoy great music, but BTS videos will also set the mood and the love of true gaming fans.
- Sonic Event Experiences: Do you remember Siver Scrapes? These beats really make your heart starts to pump much faster. These Silver Scapes are only played when the Best-Of-5 final match reachs the last game. Get ready to enjoy thrilling experiences that only fans who come to the stage can feel the breath-taking vibration.
As Riot is the first gaming developer who signs a partnership with a streaming platform, let’s see how great they can execute.
