Rumors of League Worlds 2023 will be set in South Korea

According to international League writer Brieuc Seeger, the League of Legends Worlds Championship will return to South Korea in 2023

The last time South Korea hosted Worlds was in 2018, when Invictus Gaming and Fnatic competed in the finals at Incheon Munhak Stadium. The tournament has been held twice in Europe since then, once in China, and most recently in North America.

If the rumors are true, South Korean fans will only have to wait 5 years for the biggest Esports tournament to be held in their homeland once again. In addition, the country hosted the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational, the first MSI to be staged in front of a live audience since 2019.

Despite topping the world in total championships, South Korea has only hosted the League Worlds Championship twice. South Korean team has won seven of the twelve World Championships that have been staged. The last time a South Korean team won the World Championship on home ground was in 2014, when Samsung White defeated Starhorn Royal Club.

Riot Games has yet to confirm the location for the 2023 Worlds, nor for the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational, but rumors claim that it will be hosted in London in the past few days.

The 2023 professional League season will get out in January with a new international competition called the “Season Kickoff,” which will include nine areas from around the world and will replace the now-cancelled All-Star event.
