A rundown of Faker’s journey at League World Championship

Faker has left an imprint on Worlds that no other player has

Faker is without a doubt the best League of Legends player of all time. At the World Championship, he always reminds the whole League community why he is the greatest player ever.

Faker has won Worlds three times in his seven appearances, and he has never been eliminated before the semifinals. Every year, when Worlds season arrives, he transforms into a different monster. His international performance is unsurpassed by any other League star in history. Here is a list of his World Championship honors, championships, and accomplishments during his professional career.

Worlds 2013

Faker won Worlds in his debut season, something only a few other players have done in their first year as a pro. During that World Championship, SK Telecom T1 lost only three games and swept Royal Club in the grand final to win their Worlds title.

Worlds 2015

After missing Worlds in 2014, Faker returned the following year with a blazing performance. SKT’s Worlds run in 2015 is widely regarded as the most dominating performance by any team in any League tournament in history. The team only lost one game during the competition, to KOO Tigers in the grand finale.

Worlds 2016

Faker got his third Worlds title at Worlds 2016 finals, but it wasn’t easy. SKT were tested in the semifinals and finals of that season by ROX Tigers and Samsung Galaxy, respectively. Both of those series, which were rematches of national rivals, lasted five games. Many League fans consider the semifinal match between SKT and ROX to be the best and most competitive ever played.

Worlds 2017

At 2017, Faker and SKT competed but failed to win for the first time in history. The team’s defeat against Samsung Galaxy in a rematch of the previous year’s grand final demonstrated that SKT’s control on foreign League events had slipped.

Worlds 2019

Faker was knocked out of Worlds before the grand final for the first time in his career. SKT was eliminated in 2019 by Europe’s G2 Esports, who were defeated in the final by FunPlus Phoenix.

Worlds 2021

Faker had another decent run at the event in his first Worlds participation during his era. The squad advanced to the World Championship semifinals before being eliminated by the reigning champions, DWG KIA. DAMWON dominated T1 that season, winning five of their six matches against each other.

Worlds 2022

Faker and T1 are presently fighting in the World Championships for 2022. They will meet JD Gaming, the LPL’s top seed, in the semifinals on October 29 and it will certainly be a blast to see the 2 giants for a spot in the finals.
