Samira is now crushing the meta on release.
It has been only a day since the newest League champion Samira released, but the developers of Riot Games have recognized that she may have been a little bit too strong, compare to the others. As a result, she is given a few nerfs in the latest patch game today.
“We’re still very committed to releasing new champions long term balanced,” lead gameplay designer Mark “Scruffy” Yetter added. “Sometimes we get lucky and nail it exactly on launch, but most of the time it’s about fast follow up. Based on our estimates and goals she looked clearly too strong on day one so we’re acting fast.”
First, the base health points of Samira would reduce from 600 to 530. Her powerful ultimate ability, Inferno Trigger, is also going to be diminished by a substantial amount. These adjustments were made to make her a bit more vulnerable during the early stages of the game, while also peeling away some strength from her ultimate.
Many people have already complained that Samira is turning out to become overpowered on both the mid and the bot lanes. According to U.GG, she has a 51 percent win rate in ranks above Diamond, which is extremely high for any new champion.
Her overall damage was already amazing, but her ultimate ability makes her a powerhouse that can’t be stopped. Combined with the ability to destroy enemy projectiles by Blade Whirl, she has become a great threat in multiple roles.
Until she takes over the meta, Riot should indeed find a way to balance her kit. As with the initial release of Aphelios, we have seen certain problem balance emerge again and again. Before a multiply of nerfs brought him back down to Earth, the once dominant marksman became one of the most picked and banned champions in the game earlier this year.
