Our harmless little friend Scuttle Crab might not be as useless as we all think
The Scuttle Crab is a highly contested monster in League of Legends that prowls both sides of the Summoner’s Rift river. The creature is unlike any other monster since she wanders along a specified route in the river where she spawns and will escape champions who attack her.
It also has a shield that is resistant to Smite and various crowd control spells. Players often assumed that single-damaging CC spells would first destroy the shield before affecting the Scuttle Crab’s health.
Yet, a recent study by Reddit user soaringswordfish suggests the contrary. He noticed that while some champions’ heavy CC abilities destroy the Scuttle Crab’s shield, they do not damage it further.
Even if they are a combined action for the purposes of spell shields, the player discovered that some spells cause damage before implementing the CC.
On the Reddit post, the user evaluated 145 damaging CC skills across League of Legends. 100 of them effectively do damage via the Shield. The shield, on the other hand, absorbed damage from the other 45 CC abilities, despite the fact that they happened at the same time as the CC effect.
100 of these abilities dealt damage to the Scuttle Shield. These interactions and effects have been there for the past 10 patches. However, the Redditor claimed that Riot had unintentionally caused the entire bug since they program independently for each specific ability of a League champion.
The user’s efforts were lauded by the whole League of Legends Reddit community. They are hoping that Riot will receive his post and address the issue in future updates.
Soaringswordfish anticipates Riot to repair the full set of CC abilities related to the Scuttle Crab in a patch as a wide-scale bugfix.
