Skarner Rework: Concepts, Leaked Abilities, Release date, and more

The yearly complete Visual Gameplay Update for an old champion in League of Legends is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year; here’s what we know about the upcoming Skarner rework in 2023

Skarner is the next on the list after Udyr’s update arrived on Summoner’s Rift in 2023. The most unique feature of Skarner’s arsenal is the zone-capture mini-game created by his crystal spires, which are a very old and basic champion.

He will receive a brand-new motif, kit, and narrative with the new update. A few new illustrations of Skarner’s potential shapes were featured in the season-opening clip. There is currently no concrete information on which choice Riot Games will choose. These varied from more conventional scorpion-like shapes to even more alien forms.

The VGU can be anticipated sometime in the autumn of 2023, if the timing is comparable. Riot Games has acknowledged that the update took longer than they had anticipated when they first started working on it.

What abilities Skarner’s rework will have is not yet officially confirmed. However, Riot Games has indicated a desire to retain his famous Ultimate.

“Skarner impales a small area in front of them Abducting enemy champions hit for one second dealing 100+ (100+50 percent) physical damage and an additional 50 (50+20 percent HP) damage to all abducted targets. While Abducting, Skarner can move and will drag their helpless victims around them. Skarner maintains bonus Move Speed from Brackern’s Rend for the duration of Abduction.”

His modified ultimate was actually leaked and is currently circling on Reddit. Although it’s exciting to learn at least something about the upcoming VGU, a League mod claimed that it’s highly unlikely this was true since there were a lot of formatting errors and it’s impractical to take screenshots from playtests without Riot knowing it. So players should expect this leak with a grant of salt.

Skarner is one of the very few champions in the game who has the ability to hold down a target and pull them along with him to reposition them.

This is a very strong weaponry, similar to a particularly flexible Blitzcrank hook in some respects, and if it remains, his equipment would need to be made to maximize its high-impact application. Although specifics are hazy, it appears that Skarner will look and act very differently from the polypod titan that fans are accustomed to.
