Now players can use Blitzcrank W to do more than just making him faster
Blitzcrank’s Overdrive (W) ability is usually used by players in League of Legends to do nothing more than just speeding him up —but that might be about to change soon.
Blitzcrank mains have been complaining about the champion’s 30% slowdown once Overdrive stops. However, on December 18, a League of Legends content creator by the name Hextech Lab, discovered a new advantage of the ability that relies on one of the newest and most op items, Jak’Sho, The Protean.
As it turns out, after Blitzcrank’s W is completed and the player is slowed, stacks of Jak’Sho, The Protean continue to stack up until the slow ends.
“UNIQUE – VOIDBORN RESILIENCE: For each second in combat with champions, gain 2 bonus armor and bonus magic resistance for 6 seconds, stacking up to 8 times for a maximum of 16 bonus resistances. At maximum stacks, instantly deal 3% maximum health magic damage to enemies within 700 units, reduced to 1% against non-champions, heal for the same amount for each enemy damaged, and increase your total resistances by 15% until the end of combat.”
The item’s passive (Voidborn Resilience) should stack up to 8 times for each second spent in combat. For 6 seconds, each stack grants the champion who owns it two points of extra armor and MR.
As seen in Hextech Lab’s video, Blitzcrank does not need to engage combat to obtain the Jak’Sho stacks. However, with the champion slowing down, it appears to be an interaction issue rather than something that may have significant game benefits. However, Riot hasn’t spoken of the situation yet, meaning this might be a new “secret interaction?”.
The video also revealed another Viego bug. The Ruined King retained the entire Jak’Sho, The Protean’s passive, until he was no longer in fight. The passive of the item was also reset each time the champion seized another champion.
While the interaction of Blitzcrank slowing down with Jak’sho stacks is still viable in game (or it might stay there forever), players can test it out to try to exploit it in their games.
