League of Legends: Riot’s “New” 11.10 Smite Is Brutal With “Summoner” champions?

The League of Legends community is asking Riot to fix Smite so it doesn’t have a negative effect on some champions.

Patch 11.10 Details

In the last version, Patch 11.10, all elements related to the Jungle position were heavily edited by Riot. Among them, the true damage of Smite has been changed from level to level to fixed at 2 numbers 450 (initial) and 900 (after upgrading this spell). With normal clearing speed, you can reach 900 true damage from the match’s 8-9 minutes mark. Whereas with the old system, you have to wait until level 16 to reach this number

Agree that this change will make it easier for new players to get used to the brutal Jungle, but it is a heavy nerf for some champions. According to the sharing from the League of Legends community, with 900 true damage at 9 minutes, the Jungler can almost immediately knock down most summoned units. Typical examples are Ivern’s Daisy, Yorick’s Eulogy of the Isles, or Annie’s Tibbers bear.

The community thinks the “new” Smite is destroying “summoner” champions

Ivern, who was not a champion that was picked too much, was now nerfed indirectly from the change of Smite

For champions like Ivern, Yorick, Annie, the unit summoned from the ultimate plays a critical role in their gameplay. The ability to knock up from Daisy will help Ivern contribute good control effects in team fights instead of just focusing on shield buffs. As for Yorick, Eulogy of the Isles helps this champion deal severe damage and split push. Even Annie’s Tibbers bear can deal huge amounts of magic damage.

So the fact that the Jungler can destroy these summoned units so easily in the early game with Smite will make the player feel very unfair. Notice that laners can use the Spellbook rune to switch to Smite to counter these summoned units. Maybe Riot needs a feature that allows Smite to deal less damage to units summoned from champions to not countered so simply as now.
