Football superstar Son Heung-min has officially joined League of Legends in promoting the game

For the first time, Riot Games has brought a global football icon into the spotlight to promote League of Legends, and that superstar is none other than Son Heung-min.

With nearly 15 years since its launch, League of Legends has amassed a massive fan base that spans all walks of life, from students, workers, and office professionals to the elderly, as well as celebrities from various fields like music and sports.

Some notable figures who have shared their love for League include G-Dragon, HeeChul from Super Junior, and Jay Chou. However, until now, no major star had been officially featured in a promotional video for the game. Enter Son Heung-min—Tottenham Hotspur’s superstar in the English Premier League—who is the first to break that mold.

In the new promotional video, Son Heung-min expressed his deep admiration for both of his passions: soccer and League of Legends. He shared how the game has helped him maintain a strong connection to his homeland while living abroad for his soccer career.

Son Heung-min also revealed some of his fondest memories with League, sharing that he has been a summoner for five years. His first experience in the game was playing in the Jungle role, and some of his favorite champions include Lee Sin, Nidalee, Rammus, Viego, Brand, and Vi.

He drew parallels between soccer and League, emphasizing that both require players to seize every opportunity. Due to the intensity and high-level demands of both sports, Son Heung-min often watches League tournaments for relaxation and entertainment.

It comes as no surprise that his favorite League team is T1. He openly admits that he’s a huge fan of the game, frequently spending his free time at home on the Rift. At one point, Son even appeared in a commercial where he expressed admiration for Faker, the legendary mid-laner who is just as beloved by League fans as Son is by football fans.

Having a superstar of Son Heung-min’s caliber in a League of Legends promotion is a huge win for the game’s community and will undoubtedly have a tremendous positive impact on its growth.
