Korean streamer 뀨알 received a 14-day ban from Riot after being sniped by 4 people.
The thread is going viral on reddit (credit to u/Ichsterb)
To be fair to Riot, the ban was most likely automated, as she went 3/121 in a ranked game
Hopefully Riot will respond to her support ticket and unban her. Noone deserves to be treated this way and I cannot imagine the horror she went through.
As for the 4 stream snipers, a perma ban is par the course. Imagine being so toxic and pathetic that you spend 3 hours cyberbullying a person with 3 of your friends.
As disgusting this incident was, it is unfortunately not even too far from the norm in KR LoL servers
Other reddit users have pointed out that this kind of treatment was expected in Afreeca.tv/KR girl streamer community. One streamer killed herself from the amount of vitriol she received online.
The amount of inting, griefing and general toxicity and xenophobia is off the charts in KR servers. And Riot Korea instead of dealing with it, chooses to ban anyone who speaks out and ‘tarnish’ their image.
Streamer Cowsep who was a foreigner living in Korea got all his LoL accounts banned after he called out KR LoL community and Riot KR.
Tyler1 recently returned from a 1 month stay in Korea and also suffered from the same xenophobia and toxicity. If freaking Tyler1 thinks you’re too toxic, you probably are.
Rush, who is Korean and recently returned from his military service and started streaming again on twitch, also has to deal with the BS every day.
This isn’t an attack on Korean community or people. It is unfortunate that the more passionate a player base is and the more popular a game gets, the worse it brings out from people. The same community that gave birth to all time greats like Faker has also produced these kinds of hatred and anger.
We hope that Riot commits more resources and efforts into making LoL a better playground and community, including LoL KR.
