Swain is getting a “mid-scope rework” as Riot plans to shake up mages.

Riot is continuing to overhaul League of Legends champions with “mid-scope updates,” with Noxian Grand General Swain joining the ever-growing list in Season 12. It comes after enhancements scheduled for patch 12.6 were postponed in favor of major adjustments.

Swain has been suffering for some time on Summoner’s Rift. The Noxian Grand General has not lived up to his title, having been reduced to the support role where he is currently most popular.

Even so, he’s having difficulty. According to LoLalytics, he has one of the lowest pick rates in the game as of League patch 12.6.

Having saying that, Riot has realized the need for The Noxian Grand General adjustments. Buffs were intended for the aforementioned update, but they were vetoed only days before it went online.

However, the procedure was not in vain. Swain is getting a “mini-rework” in League of Legends Season 12 on the same magnitude as a number of other dated champions over the previous year.

Riot hasn’t revealed anything about the champion adjustments coming later in League of Legends Season 12 — but he’s being worked on alongside Olaf and Taliyah’s overhauls according to Riot August.

According to developer ‘TheTruexy,’ the prior round of buffs were released with the purpose of “shifting power out of less satisfying places and into the spells that make Swain, well, Swain.”

This is most likely a return to top and mid lane from his previous duties of bot lane and support.

Given the huge popularity of the Ahri and Rengar reworks (Janna’s was a different type of success) in getting to the heart of challenges in their individual communities, his players are hoping for a similar approach.

Riot hasn’t indicated when we can expect to see the next Swain updates, but it won’t be long until we find out what’s next for the Grand General – it’s likely only a matter of time in League of Legends Season 12.

Hopefully, Swain players will be able to re-energize the mage, who has seen his popularity and power decline over the previous year in favor of fresher champions with higher burst damage and sustain.
