T1 criticized Riot Games after internet rage prevented them from practicing Worlds 2023

T1 General Manager, Jeong ‘becker’ Hoi-yoon, has taken to social media to voice concerns about the practice environment provided by Riot Games as the League of Legends World Championship 2023 enters its crucial quarterfinal stage.

With the final 8 teams preparing for the Worlds 2023 Knockout Stage, practice time is of utmost importance to hone their skills and strategies.

T1 called out Riot Games at Worlds 2023

Regrettably, some teams have been facing disruptions in their practice routines due to unexpected internet outages. T1, in particular, has been significantly affected by this issue. Becker, in his public callout, pointedly criticized Riot Games and emphasized that his team has been unable to practice effectively. He also made a plea for a more conducive practice area, raising a legitimate concern that could impact T1’s preparations for the tournament.

“In the two days since I came to Busan, due to internet issues, the team has not been able to practice the scrimmage and solo queue properly.

Despite repeated requests, it is not possible to practice, so we ask the organizers to provide a better practice environment.”

The top 8 teams in the competition have recently relocated from Seoul to Busan after the conclusion of the Swiss Stage. Their upcoming matches will take place in the Sajik Indoor Gymnasium. While T1 has been vocal about the internet outages affecting their practice, other teams in the top eight have yet to confirm if they are experiencing similar difficulties. However, Gen.G’s mid laner, Jeong ‘Chovy’ Ji-hoon, appears to have supported Becker’s concerns by reposting the initial message, hinting at a shared issue.

The resolution of this problem is critical for T1, as they need practice time to prepare for their upcoming match against LNG Esports, the third seed from the LPL, scheduled for November 5.

Having maintained a 3-1 record in the Swiss Stage, T1 is looking to secure a spot in the semifinals, with their only loss coming at the hands of Gen.G in the second round.

The situation underscores the importance of stable practice environments and effective communication between organizations and tournament organizers. With the gravity of the World Championship, it is in everyone’s interest to ensure that participating teams can prepare to the best of their abilities, free from such hindrances.
