T1 made history with their victory against Gen.G in LCK Spring 2022 Finals

The League of Legends community “exploded” as T1 defeated Gen.G in the historic final

T1 officially faced Gen.G Esports in the 2022 LCK Spring Final a few hours ago, and they won 3-1, making them the first team to advance for the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational and thus concluding the historical split. The team advanced to the finals following an 18-0 regular season, establishing their record as the most successful team in LCK history.

Gen.G performed admirably in the early phases of game 1. Gen.G was even in full control of objectives like Dragons and the Rift Herald. Instead of making the late attempt to shape Doran’s Ornn for critical spots on the team, Gen.G pushed the game too far. The devastating Baron combat aids T1 in regaining the fight. Gumayusi then scored on multiple kills, giving their team a 1-0 lead against Gen.G in the end.

Moving on to game 2, Gen.G had a powerful damage shock team that scales to late game, but T1 has an advantage in the early and mid-phase of the game. Only the mistakes made by T1 players, particularly Oner, caused them to slowly lose the game to Gen.G. As the game progresses, Rulers’ Xayah became increasingly powerful. Gen.G then leveled the match after a 1 for 5 kills near the Dragon.

With the score 1-1, T1 seemed unstoppable in their remaining two games. They pushed throughout the game, resulting in around 10k gold lead at one point. But both Peanut and Chovy fought back aggressively, causing Faker and his teammates to struggle to finish the match. However, thanks to a mistake at the Baron, Gen.G was swept nearly clean, and T1 reclaimed the lead in the historic final.

After a great performance from their opponent, Gen.G sought to extend the series to a fifth game with Doran Akshan top lane. However, T1 easily countered it with Kennen and as a consequence, they were unstoppable, crushing any early-game attempts. They were on the verge of bringing the game to a close, and they did it with a teamfight focused on Faker’s Ahri. T1 has officially reclaimed first place in the LCK after 28 minutes, with jungler Oner voted Finals MVP.

Once again, Gen.G missed out on the LCK championship. And, with this victory, Faker and his teammates officially became the 2022 LCK Spring champion. At the same time, they also became the representative of LCK at MSI 2022 and proving they are the most perfect champion in the history of League of Legends with their 100% unbeaten matches throughout an entire split.
