T1 set a new record last night by defeating Kwangdong Freecs in the 2022 LCK Spring Split. T1 became the first team in the LCK history to achieve a 15-win run after matching their previous record from 2015.
Until present, no LCK team had gone unbeaten in 14 consecutive matches in a single season. In the LCK Spring 2015 season, SK Telecom T1 (previously SKT) set the previous 14-0 record.
T1 easily defeated Freecs in the game. Both teams used normal lineups in the opening game. Teddy and his teammates were able to obtain the Cloud Soul, which was meant to be their deciding factor in the game. T1, on the other hand, secretly toppled the Baron before triumphing in the game-winning teamfight.
The Freecs rallied in the second game, owing to strong efforts by Teddy and FATE, thus, leading to game 3 where Faker picked Kai’sa mid.
Mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok locked in Kai’Sa, a champion generally picked in the bot lane, in game three of the KDF series. After eliminating Kwangdog Freecs’ jungler Choi “Ellim” El-lim, the team exploded and dominated the series.
Faker had been practicing Kai’Sa for about a week. After teasing her in games one and two, the team ultimately locked her down. Although the unique pick wasn’t a crucial factor in the game, Faker had a good scaling game, which featured when Keria and Oner pathed mid to match Ellim and Hoit, resulting in a 3v3 fight that Faker got a kill.
T1 currently has three series left to win the split’s historical unbeaten record. Their next series begins on March 13 against Fredit BRION.
