T1 continued its unbeaten streak on a day when ShowMaker was hardly noticeable
During the sixth week of the LCK Spring 2022, all eyes were on the T1 – DWG KIA encounter on February 23. Once regarded as one of the most classic games of League in particular and the World Championship in general, both teams are present in comparatively opposing form, but not to the point that this match loses its appeal.
DWG KIA attempted to become the first team to defeat T1 this year, but they were defeated 2-0 despite brilliant counter-strategies and excellent early games. T1 advanced to 11-0 and became the first team to qualify for the Spring Split playoffs with this win.
In addition to their typical perfect mechanics and spectacular plays, T1 displayed remarkable coordination and macro play that day. In game 1, the team did not lead in the early game, but Faker and his teammates were free to manipulate the game as they saw the time was appropriate. Not to add that ShowMaker was almost not himself during game 1 which greatly aids them.
They finished the first game by attempting to seize the Baron and surprise DWG KIA’s players as they arrived to defend the objective, getting a clean ace with enough time to demolish their Nexus.
In the second game, T1 seized the lead quicker than the first owing to strong jungle fights and control of the objectives by the bot lane.
DWG KIA attempted to gain an edge in the late game by destroying the Baron, but T1 took the risky move to rush the team’s Nexus instead of defending the Baron. They were successful in breaking DWG KIA’s Nexus before they could respond, and they won the series spectacularly.
T1 extended their undefeated streak to 11 games with this victory. The 2021 LCK Championship was defeated by Faker and his teammates in both the first and second games. Perhaps the crowd is now more interested in whether the team will be able to defeat the remaining series in the LCK Spring 2022 group stage or not.
