TFT Patch 14.18 makes history by introducing the first-ever official 4-star units

TFT Patch 14.18 is set to bring some significant changes to the auto-battler, including the official ability for players to achieve 4-star units without relying on any traits, charms, or augments.

This upcoming TFT patch is shaping up to be one of the most impactful in the game’s history, not just with the introduction of the Golden Frying Pan, but also with various quality-of-life improvements and balance updates that aim to keep the game relevant.

The list of updates continues to grow as developers reveal even more adjustments designed to significantly impact the reroll meta. TFT lead designer Mortdog recently took to Twitter to share that there will now be a new official method for obtaining 4-star units, something that previously could only be achieved through specific traits and charms.

Mortdog explained that in certain scenarios, players could end up with 27 copies of the same unit. Typically, this situation leads to frustration since players might expect to upgrade to a four-star version of the unit, only to find themselves stuck with three three-star units and no way to advance to a four-star without the help of charms or traits.

However, this will change in TFT Patch 14.18. If a player collects 27 copies of the same unit, they will now be rewarded with a four-star version, which comes with enhanced stats and a more powerful ability.

This update is especially beneficial for reroll comps seeking a stronger carry. Units such as Warwick will particularly excel with this change, and others like Elise, Blitzcrank, Lillia, and Poppy will see substantial benefits, especially when paired with their hero augment.

Additionally, this new system could potentially allow players to obtain a five-star unit through the Moonlight Ritual charm, although the developers have not yet confirmed this possibility.

The changes introduced in TFT Patch 14.18 are not just temporary; they will remain a permanent feature in the game mode, starting from set 12. This means that lucky players will have the chance to experience the excitement and power of a 4-star unit on a regular basis, making the game even more thrilling.
