Exciting TFT Quality-of-Life Updates with Into the Arcane Release

TFT Quality-of-Life updates with Into the Arcane

As Teamfight Tactics (TFT) gears up for the Into the Arcane release on November 20th, Riot Games has teased exciting quality-of-life updates aimed at enhancing the gameplay experience. While the release brings in new champions and cinematic posters, it also introduces improvements that may be less visible but highly impactful for players.

Opening Encounters Replace Portals

The first major change coming to TFT with the replacement of the widely used Opening Portals by a new system called Opening Encounters. According to Riot, the Portals system created a noticeable imbalance between preferred and underused Portals, making it harder for new players to engage effectively.

The new Opening Encounters, instead, promise a refreshing variety without the overload of options. At launch, ten unique Opening Encounters will be available, each represented by an Arcane character. For example, players may experience Prismatic or Scuttle games represented by champions like Heimerdinger and Jinx, or a “vanilla” game with no Opening Encounter at all, adding some simpler rounds for a balanced experience.

Enhanced Item Bench

The second TFT quality-of-life improvement focuses on the Item Bench. Items will now be displayed in a toolbar on the left side of the screen, making them easier to manage and view. In this improved layout, items are now stackable and rearrangeable, allowing players to better organize and access their resources mid-game. Additionally, the new Item Bench increases item capacity by 10 slots, giving players room for up to 20 items or consumables. For desktop users, another welcome update is the ability to view items during the Carousel round, streamlining the choice of components to prioritize.

Team Planner Codes and Multi-Teams Support

Another noteworthy addition is the Team Planner Codes, introduced with Patch 14.22. These codes allow players to quickly copy and paste team compositions into their Team Planner, helping them prepare for matches with just a few clicks.

Alongside this feature, the Team Planner also gains Multi-Teams support, allowing players to save and switch between multiple team comps during matches. The final upgrade adds champion names below portraits in the Team Planner, so players can easily identify each champion without squinting.

These changes are just the start, as Riot hints at more updates rolling out soon, with two additional Opening Encounters already planned post-launch. Into the Arcane promises not only thrilling new characters but also a more intuitive TFT experience.
