Mortdog, TFT’ lead developer, has announced that the econ trait Piltover will most certainly get a “big rework.”
Riot Games has always included an econ trait in every TFT set. However, the Set Nine Piltover has struggled to meet the expectations of players for an econ trait, perhaps opening the way for a rework.
When Piltover is enabled, players acquire possession of a T-Hex, which gains charges if a player loses. Losing streaks results in additional charges being accumulated, while winning transforms the charges to power, giving the T-Hex strength. However, it looks that players are dissatisfied with the way Piltover works.
Riot Mortdog revealed why TFT Piltover trait needed a rework
According to lead game dev Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer, having to pick between treasure drops and keeping T-Hex on the battlefield has caused complications for certain players, leading to an impending rework.
Lead developer Mortdog hinted that the trait might be changed on their stream.
“So, you wanna know the dirty secret of Piltover? We’re probably going to give it a big rework. Assuming it was or was not in the mid-set, even before that. It’s pretty clear people don’t like choosing the T-Hex or the loot. Having to choose one or the other sucks so we’re probably going to give it some love. To make it a little easier to play, probably, no promises.”
TFT is one of the strongest autobattlers since it has alternatives and different routes of play. The Piltover trait alternatives, on the other hand, are falling short with players, perhaps making them feel guilty about their decision to sell or maintain T-Hex.
With no defined date, it’s unclear when these improvements will be implemented on live servers; only time will tell when we’ll see the new Piltover.
