T1 Streamer LS: The Collector’s Passive Is Less Than An Auto Attack

Are League of Legends gamers overestimating the passive of The Collector?

Added to the store in League of Legends from season 11, The Collector is considered one of the best items in the game due to its passive which finishes off low-health enemies. However, with T1 Streamer LS‘s opinion, he disagreed that the passive is the selling point of this item. LS thinks that if you attack a target with less than 1500 HP, the actual damage that it gives is lower than a normal attack from the ADC.

LS: “What is 5% of 1500 HP? Right, it’s actually less than an auto-attack. So you want to build an item to get a 75-damage to proc.”

Meanwhile, The Collector gives less attack damage and lethality than other items with the same purchase price. Its only plus point is providing critical. I can’t understand why so many people think that it is an OP item. This item is only really effective when the opponent is a tank champion. Also, when attacking targets with low health, this passive doesn’t deal as much damage as people think.”

It is a fact that when The Colletor’s passive effect is active, this item will show you dealing 999 true damage (1999 if it has critical). This makes many gamers think that the passive deals huge damage and can “blow” opponents easily.

However, we need to remember that this item’s effect only activates when you deal damage to a target below 5% of their maximum HP. With a target of 1500 maximum HP, The Collector actually only deals 75 more true damage to knock down the opponent. Obviously, in terms of damage efficiency, this is a minimal number to compare with the fact that you have to spend 3000 gold to buy The Collector.

Therefore, the pro-ADC players in the world have gradually ignored The Collector when buying items. The best example is the GALA player of the MSI 2021 champion – Royal Never Give Up. In 16 times using Kai’Sa at MSI 2021, GALA only bought The Collector in 6 matches. Especially at the MSI 2021 Finals against DWG KIA, GALA played Kai’sa and did not buy The Collector in the whole Final match.

In brief, The Collector is not the best item that you must upgrade in every game. This item is only really useful in case you against too many tank opponents and need a tool to finish them off as soon as possible. If you play ADC, you can choose another item such as Lord Dominik’s Regards, Phantom Dancer… to get more attack effects suitable for the game instead of buying The Collector.
