The Mother Got Fumed When Discovered Her Son Has Donated Nearly $20,000 to Twitch Streamers

The demand for called-the-name by streamers such great that this boy had “burned” nearly $20,000 saving of his mother.

Recently, a parent spoke out that her son has spent $20,000 on donating for Fortnite streamer on the Twitch platform. According to the mother, he spent $19,870.94 and using her debit cards during the last June 14-30 without any parents’ permission.

“My minor child spent almost $20k using a debit card on subscriptions & donations, cleaning out my bank accts without my knowledge or permission. Years of savings gone in 17 days. No response from customer service in over 2 wks, no response to certified mail to CEO or Amazon legal. Does anyone know if I can get this money back or how to get a response?”

She also said that these donations went to popular Twitch streamers such as Tfue, Gorb and Ewokttv, Kurt Benkert and Meyers Leonard. Over half of $20,000 has sent to Twitch.

“When I saw the bank balances were almost gone, my lips started to tingle and I had to put my head down so I wouldn’t pass out,” she said. “I cried at first. I didn’t believe he could’ve done this.”

According to the mother’s express, the son was given a debit card to buy lunch at school. He then started transferring money from his mother’s account to the debit card to pay for transactions via online banking. The mother believed that when she was transferring money to his account, her son might have seen the password, or she did not log out properly.

“I contacted my bank as soon as I found out and they froze all of our accounts, and his debit card was canceled,” she said. “Unless I press charges against my son, they will not help as this is considered friendly fraud.”

The mom said she was struggling with Twitch and Amazon to get the lost money back. She claimed that Twitch hasn’t responded for more than 2 weeks and Amazon had asked her to directly contact Twitch. She had to contact the legal team of CEO Twitch Emmett Shear and Amazon but there was no response. Additionally, she contacted the 5 streamers to get the money back and only Benkert and Leonard have responded to her so far.

This is not a new story about children making use of money from their parents to donate to streamers. Therefore, parents need to manage finances carefully to avoid such unfortunate circumstances.
