Is this the real life DJ Sona?
For most players, using a keyboard and mouse to play League of Legends is second nature. However, some gamers are never satisfied with sticking to the ordinary.
One creative Summoner recently took an unconventional approach to the Rift by using a DJ controller to play the game.
In this unique experiment, the player programmed and configured the buttons and knobs on a DJ controller to perform basic in-game actions, such as activating abilities (Q, W, E, R) or casting summoner spells.
As seen in the Reddit clip, the DJ controller has enough buttons to map all abilities, summoner spells, and item activations. While adapting to such an unusual setup takes significant time and effort, it offers a fresh and entertaining way to experience League of Legends.
To fully embrace the theme, the player chose Sona—the musical Maven of the Strings—as their champion. With her music-based abilities and straightforward kit, Sona proved to be an ideal fit for this DJ controller experiment. The absence of skill-shot-dependent mechanics made the controller a viable, if quirky, tool for gameplay.
Despite the novelty, the unconventional setup presented clear challenges. The player faced occasional missteps and even ended up feeding as Sona. Still, they managed to contribute meaningfully during team fights, showcasing that even with a DJ controller, it’s possible to support the team.
While this experiment didn’t revolutionize the game, it provided plenty of laughs and a sense of accomplishment for pulling off such an unusual feat. Moments like these remind us of the endless creativity and joy the League of Legends community brings to the Rift!
