Most of League of Legends players around the world are probably astonished by Riot’s huge announcement in the 10th anniversary of League of Legends. We are all used to Riot making surprises on special occasions, but sometimes Riot can possibly do something that is unexpectable.
From a new strategy card game to a series of cartoons in the League universe, LoL fans in particular and video game fans in general are certainly surprised that Riot reveals the entire long list of upcoming projects and animations in this year. Here are the top 5 most anticipated projects that Riot will release in 2020:
Contents
- 1 1. Project A: a first person shooter game with the characters’ skill sets inspired from League’s champions in a whole new playstyle.
- 2 2. Project F: A RPG/MMO game based on Runeterra’s universe.
- 3 3. Legends of Runeterra: A strategy card game of Riot.
- 4 4. League of Legends: Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics Mobile.
- 5 5. Arcane: A new animated series of Riot.
1. Project A: a first person shooter game with the characters’ skill sets inspired from League’s champions in a whole new playstyle.
Riot always creates many different side projects – like Mechs vs. Minions or Teamfight Tactics – all based on the universe of League of Legends. On the other hand, Project A will be Riot’s first first person shooter strategy game that will be set on Earth-like environment in the future. There are also a bunch of new characters that have their own special abilities on battlefield.
As i mentioned above, this game is one of the reasons that Riot’s followers are extremely surprised after watching the 10th anniversary. Previously, Riot didn’t give a hint about making a shooting game, also the game’s genre was not what we expected Riot to be focused on. Therefore, after the information about Project A was published, it had immediately drawn the attention of many people, including professional players of other popular FPS games such as CS:GO and Overwatch.

2. Project F: A RPG/MMO game based on Runeterra’s universe.
We only got a glimpse of this new game in the 10th anniversary stream, but that’s more than enough to get everyone excited. The developer says that the purpose of creating Project F is to find a way for players to explore the world of Runeterra, where the tales of legends were told with a tremendous amount of locations, characters and mysteries hiding all over the continent.
So many people have been waiting for this project since Riot’s co-founder Mark “Tryndamere” Merrill asked if the company should build a game described as above in 2018. Although more details about Project F are not expected to be revealed at least until next year, but this is a good idea for League players anyway.

3. Legends of Runeterra: A strategy card game of Riot.
The most developed and maybe getting released the earliest is Legends of Runeterra (LOR), a strategy card game. With the game now being available for testing, many famous streamers and LoL players have started creating contents such as tutorial and gameplay for viewers.
Everyone can now pre-register the game. Once you are approved, you can download the game and try it out for yourself. LOR is extremely fascinating with an attractive interface along with a gameplay system which is kinda easy to understand.
The game seems to be fast-paced and great at balancing the Random Number Generator (RNG) algorithm while it is still giving the players the ability to control their fate during the fights against the others. The game will also be available for cross-platform playing between PC and mobile devices.

4. League of Legends: Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics Mobile.
One of the biggest announcements in Riot’s anniversary stream is that both LoL and TFT are preparing to launch mobile versions. In fact, there are already quite a lot of mobile games are “copying” League of Legends, but we all know that playing League of Legends on the official mobile version is still better. According to Riot, this is not the same game of the PC version, but instead, they have to rebuild the game from the beginning and they will release it as League of Legends: Wild Rift.
Wild Rift retains most of the current gameplay of LoL, but there are some major changes in the game that some traditional LoL players might have to adjust their playstyle to comepletely get used to the game. For example, the wards are refurbished and there are no inhibitors in Wild Rift.
Sooner or later, TFT will also has its own mobile version because the other auto battle games are very successful on this platform. This will also help the TFT players with the advantage of being able to initalize a TFT match even when the players are not at the computer.

After years of creating awesome cinematic and music videos, Riot finally created an “League of Legends cinematic universe” based on the mysterious legends about some of the game’s most famous characters.
Arcane – the upcoming animated series will take place in what appears to be Zaun, the underground city at the bottom of Piltover. The story will focus on the origins of the two champions in League of Legends and the power that will separate them. There are only a few champions we can think of, they might be Vi and Jinx who are also from Zaun.
The series can help the audience by unveiling the unexpected connections between characters. There are some rumors and speculations suggesting that these characters will be connected in a way that we have never seen before. The chance to dive deeper into the open world of Runeterra will be very interesting for any LoL fan.
