With great success comes great failure; aside from League of Legends‘s best-selling skin lines, such as K/DA, Battle Academia, Star Guardian, and PROJECT, many older skin lines have slipped into oblivion.
Although they are all products that Riot Games put a lot of creative effort into, not all skin lines are equally popular with League of Legends gamers.
1. Arclight
The Arclight skin line can almost be considered as an earlier version of The Sentinels of Light skin line, which will be available shortly in League of Legends from the upcoming Patch 11.14. With the main design style of light, however, when compared to The Sentinel, while The Arclight also has many excellent skins such as Vel’Koz, Brand, or Yorick, it still cannot provide significant interest from players.
The major reason for this is that the champions that hold the Arclight skins are not well-known (except Vayne or Varus). Riot does not appear to be interested in this skin line’s storyline, which is likewise highly distinct and individualistic. Typically, The Arclight is only published one at a time for each. And, with the introduction of The Sentinels of Light, it would not be surprising if the Arclight got discontinued entirely in the future.
2. Pentakill
Pentakill was one of the first names to open up Riot Games’ musical universe, but regrettably, the “band” has nearly gone into darkness at this point. Pentakill just added a new member, Kayle, in 2017, after the introduction of the first five members, which were Yorick, Karthus, Sona, Olaf, and Mordekaiser.
Rock & Roll — the genre that Pentakill symbolizes – is obviously considerably less popular when compared to two other prominent music movements, Pop (K/DA) and Rap (True Damage). Despite the fact that this band’s musical products are as painstakingly developed and made, they are unable to sway the tastes of young people, relegating Pentakill to the level of a colorful name. Riot has already stated that it does not intend to relaunch this band in the foreseeable future.
3. FNATIC
Fnatic was the first World Champion of League of Legends, but also the unluckiest. They had a small prize pool the first time this event was conducted, did not win a cup, and the Fnatic honor skin was not published until 2014.
And, possibly as a result of the “compensation” mentality, the quality of the Fnatic (FNC) series isn’t all that great. Even when compared to previously published TPA or SKT, FNC is much worse in every way, from looks to design to special interactions. As a result, this skin line is the worst honor reward Riot has ever made.
4. Academy
Not Battle Academia, but also worse than Battle Academia.
It is obvious that a line of skins with the same school concept but lower-than-average quality, such as the Academy, cannot be compared to something that has the benefit of being one of the most well-developed skin lines – Battle Academia.
And, to be honest, this is one of the most “boring” skin lines Riot has ever created. Except for Academy Ekko, who has a little benefit on skill effects, the remaining characters are Vladimir, Ahri, or Darius, who both have highly faded designs, practically just modifying their outfits when compared to their default looks.
5. Deep Terror
Many players may be unaware that this skin line exists in League of Legends if it is not mentioned. Deep Terror is concept with some fairly fascinating material, with themes relating to life on the ocean below, ranging from strange marine animals to mythological monsters and even Legends of the Atlantic, all of which are replicated via this skin line.
However, because this is a skin brand that has been on the market for a long time, the quality of the product is also beyond debate – it is really poor when compared w ith the introduction of the new and better monster skins. Furthermore, Riot Games has plainly said that they would limit the design of monster champions in the future (due to revenue problems), thus it can be assumed that the Deep Terror universe will not be able to accept any new members.
