TSM, a North American League of Legends team, reportedly investigated the possibility of selling their LCS franchised spot
TSM has grown to be one of the most popular League of Legends teams since its establishment in 2011, yet the team was on the verge of exiting the LCS.
According to Dexerto, Team SoloMid recently discussed selling their LCS due to a variety of issues such as lowering the expenses of TSM’s esports ventures, the level of competition in the North American area, and the overall drop in popularity of the North American League of Legends.
According to insiders, TSM was aiming to join the LEC through the recently sold Misfits franchise seat in Riot’s European LEC league. The group made preliminary queries about a prospective sale before Team Heretics purchased the site for an estimated $45 to $50 million.
For some time, it has also been commonly believed that the LCS viewership has been in rapid decline, particularly when compared to the LEC. Back at Team SoloMid, things aren’t looking good for not only their LCS team, but the organization as a whole.
According to Dexerto, the organization is lowering budgets across all of its esports departments and will be selling additional assets in the near future.
But there might be more to this. TSM’s League team has failed to achieve success throughout the 2022 LCS Summer Split, finishing second-last with a 3-8 record.
The reigning LCS champions have three more weeks to try to qualify for a playoff slot before their hopes of competing in the World Championships are over.
For the time being, TSM has refused to respond on reports that the organization is considering leaving the LCS.
