Debonair 2.0, Crime City Nightmare skins and Udyr VGU update are coming to League of Legends.
The votes are counted, the polls are locked, and we’ve got our winners for League’s first fan votes in 2021.
Riot announced the winners of the League of Legends season 2021 surveys on today’s dev blog. With more than 37% of the global vote, Udyr will be the next champion to receive VGU updates in early 2022. Crime City Nightmare was the overwhelming favorite in every area except China, with a global vote of 49.6 percent.
As one of the oldest league champions, it’s clear that the Spirit Walker deserves to be revamped. With every new update adding more complicated mechanics, Udyr’s run-and-run gameplay hasn’t kept up with the times. Although he’s expected to receive a significant change, Riot plans to retain his stance and the melee-fighter gameplay.
Gameplay designer Stash “Stashu” Chelluck speaked about the VGU update: “I hope to do his classic stance-dancing motif justice by pushing the unique powers and playstyles of each stance while keeping him the heavy hitting, full-melee fighter that really slaps when he closes the gap”
As for the Crime City Nightmare skin line, fans should expect a Q3 launch “sometimes between July and September.”
“Fashionable crimelords making shady deals with Eldritch entities?” thematic development producer Karl “LoveStrut” Abad said. “What’s not to like? There’s a lot of exciting potential here to show a compelling horror-focused power fantasy that we haven’t explored yet.”
Even though Crime City Nightmare was a definite winner of the survey, Riot would still make Debonair 2.0 skins later this year. While they haven’t verified that Monster Tamers will still be developed, the Developers will “continue thinking” about launching them down the road.
