Udyr has been a strong force in the solo queue meta since his rework was released in League Patch 12.16, and Riot is making a change to the character in a forthcoming patch that could change his best build.
Riot is targeting Udyr’s build with a number of League modifications in Patch 12.18, which will be released next week.
Although the specifics of the balance changes have yet to be revealed, League’s lead balance designer Matt Leung-Harrison stated that the development team “doesn’t want to radically upend the meta” with any of their future improvements.
He is at his best in the current solo queue meta when he combines tank goods with Ability Power items. In solo queue games, Udyr players should currently prioritize Sunfire Aegis, Demonic Embrace, and Fimbulwinter.
The impending modifications may require Udyr players to devote themselves to a more streamlined League build path in Summoner’s Rift games.
According to League data site op.gg, he presently has the eighth-highest victory rate among all champions on the League roster in games at a Platinum tier or higher this patch.
The Spirit Walker had no effect on the game’s professional meta in 2022 because he has been disabled in competitive play since the release of his rework. Furthermore, the champion will be rendered ineligible for the League World Championship, which is scheduled to take place on Patch 12.18.
Specific changes to Udyr’s build path are scheduled to be disclosed tomorrow when the League development team unveils the extended patch preview for Patch 12.18.
According to the game’s patch schedule, the patch will be available on September 21.
