Updated Honor Rewards
The 2022 entrant for the Three Honors skinline will be Three Honors Malzahar
Though the addition of the Honor Recall system did encourage positive in-game behavior, players’ feedback has included stale rewards. The Three Honors skinline is expected to improve on the reward aspect of the honor system, with more skins in the making.
Previously players have received new chromas for Grey Warwick and Medieval Twitch skins each year for those who have reached Honor 5. The Three Honor skinline will be replacing these although you’ll still be able to turn in Honor 5 capsules and token.
Riot wants players to change the way they use Honor system
Very often Riot has observed that players use the system to award good plays rather than friendly behavior, since honor rewards aren’t tied to how a player honors another.
The new system will award extra honor when:
- You are more consistently positive. Rare slip-up won’t affect it heavily, but flip-flopping between good and bad behavior will severely slow you down
- All players on your team honored someone. Make sure everyone has a good time!
- Match-made teammates honor you (over pre-made). This is to prevent trading honor among friends.
- You play higher-stake game modes: Ranked solo = Ranked flex > Normals = ARAM = Event Modes > Co-op vs AI
In addition, all disruptive behavior will negatively affect Honor, slowing down your progression, decreasing your Honor level, or both. The more severe the disruptive behavior, the harsher the punishment.
Future improvements to behavioral systems
Updates will allow Riot to evaluate text live in-game, instantaneously muting inappropriate players and prevent you from seeing negative interactions.
Riot will also be adding an in-game report system to provide feedback the moment disruptive behaviors happen and a pre-made chat channel to allow you to communicate with chosen team members without exposing you to random match-made ones’ comms.
Lastly, LoL will be adding a system that allows you to create parties with players who have honored you or whom you have honored.
MOBAs have always had a reputation for fostering toxicity due to their highly competitive and team-oriented gameplays. These changes hopefully will improve player experience and facilitate a more positive environment for every League fan to enjoy!
