Vayne Top appears to be no longer powerful
Riot Games were doling buffs and nerfs in Patch 13.6, and Vayne has found herself on the list of lucky League of Legends champions. Still, devs fear top lane Vayne’s fury, and they’ve locked in early nerfs, with further nerfs planned if she returns to the meta.
When opposed to her ADC counterpart, top lane Vayne is a different kind of trouble. Most champions in the top lane are melee, and because of her mobility, it is difficult to punish her. If she is not punished, she will be able to freely scale into and become unstoppable.
The Current State of Vayne Top
Although top lane Vayne has never been a real meta choice, there has never been a better time for Vayne to return to terrorize melee champions who struggle to touch her.
Riot expanded on how the buffs in Patch 13.6 affected Vayne and why she isn’t as dominant in the top lane in a recent Dev Blog. Prior to the patch, the champion was rather weak in general, necessitating a buff.
According to Riot, she performs admirably at the lower levels of play while failing at the higher levels. Most lower-tier players have no idea how to cope with Vayne, let alone Vayne Top, which causes player dissatisfaction. In the upper tiers of play, she is severely penalized.
That is why Riot attempted to buff her unfairly for higher-level players in Patch 13.6. This succeeded since she is no longer the top lane threat she ever was, as Vayne Top is now the 45th most popular top lane choice internationally. Meanwhile, her Bot lane performance has improved significantly.
Riot, on the other hand, stated that if she regains dominance in the top lane, they will strike quickly.
