Many believed this year’s roster to be the LEC’s next superteam. However, after two seasons of underwhelming performances, Team Vitality has decided to split ways with two of its old players
On September 21, 2022, Labrov and Selfmade revealed that they are still under contract with Vitality, their contracts were set to end in 2024. But, the organization has given them permission to search for other opportunities for the next year.
As part of the season 2022, Team Vitality revealed their new squad on Twitter as the ‘biggest LEC roster ever seen.’ Having said that, they did acquire some top-tier players. For the Spring Split 2022, the team replaced nearly their entire lineup. After the changes, only Labrov and Selfmade remained, and Vitality launched a new lineup loaded with LEC Superstars like Perkz, Alphari, and Carzzy.
Labrov has been with the team since June 2022 and is Vitality’s Support. Selfmade and Labrov both joined the squad at the same time. Selfmade was Vitality’s main jungler at first, but in Summer 2022, he was replaced by Haru and became the team’s substitute jungler.
Selfmade previously enjoyed success with Fnatic, however, despite competing in the LEC finals, he and his former colleagues have never won the LEC trophy.
Many were thrilled about the new squad and felt they might compete for the LEC trophy.
However, fans were disappointed when Vitality only qualified for the playoffs in the spring, failing to go past Round 2. The summer of 2022 was considerably worse. The team had everything set up for them to qualify for the playoffs, but they went 0-3 in LEC Superweek and were eliminated from playoff.
The team missed out on qualifying for Worlds 2022 since they did not make the playoffs. This implies that the whole roster will take a significant break until next year, when they will attempt again with a new roster.
For the time being, only Labrov and Selfmade are permitted to seek for alternative possibilities, but we’ll see if any of the other teammates have the same opportunities.
