When does League Season 11 start? Preseason, ranked rewards and more

League of Legends season 11 is close at hand. Season 10 ranked rewards have been rolled out, and all eyes are on patch 11.1. Here’s what we know about next season’s League, and when it’s coming.

Season 10 has gone by in League of Legends. The anniversary year of the Riot Games was marked by big events, a number of new champions and now the 2020 World Championship. However, once the season has ended, all eyes are on Season 11. Riot Games made significant changes to the map and runes in the past, but this time, the main focus is the items.

When does League Season 11 start?

When Season 10 ends, Season 11 does not start immediately. The preseason period will be about 2 months, with Riot testing the changes with the broader community and players being able to play without worrying about losing their rank.

Yet the preseason is about nearing its end. Riot locked the League of Legends Season 11 on January 8, 2021 as the starting date. Just a few days after the 11.1 patch of the League arrives on January 6, the new year begins with a bang.

League Season 11 changes: items overhaul and more

In the League of Legends Season 11, the main talking point is the item system overhaul with the appearance of Mythic item system and the removal of the old items. The update will rework over half of the items available in the game. On top of that, stats like cooldown reduction and critical strikes are being entirely overhauled. The former is now being labeled as ability haste, and will be rejigged to eliminate the 40% cap. Critical strikes will also be more widely available as the purpose of Riot is to remove the RNG element.

Changes on minions will also be made as Riot attempts to shift power from the middle lane and into other roles, as well as unannounced changes that will be revealed in the next few weeks.

League Season 10 ranked rewards

As for the season before, players who hit Gold and above are qualified for the Victorious skin. In season 10, Lucian was the champion bestowed with the honor. However, rather than just a skin, players who achieve Platinum and above can receive additional chromas to match their final rank.

If you haven’t made it to Gold, don’t worry much. A ranked icon and a ranked profile banner trim are also given to meet your final rank. Furthermore, all are going to get Lucian’s Series 1 Eternals set.
