For long-time League of Legends players, the Essence Emporium is a highly anticipated event, offering a rare chance to spend accumulated Blue Essence on exclusive cosmetics. If you’ve been stacking up Blue Essence from victories and capsules, here’s everything you need to know about the Essence Emporium.
What is the Essence Emporium?
The Essence Emporium is a limited-time event that takes place twice a year, allowing players to purchase select cosmetics with Blue Essence. While Blue Essence is typically used to unlock champions, it often piles up after collecting all available champions.
During the Emporium, players can use their Blue Essence to buy exclusive items like chromas, icons, and emotes. This makes the event a favorite among long-time players, who save up their Blue Essence to splurge when the Emporium goes live.
What Can You Buy in the Essence Emporium?
The most popular items available in the shops are chromas—alternate color schemes for skins. While you won’t find brand-new skins for purchase with Blue Essence, chromas for skins earned from chests throughout the year can often be unlocked during this event.
Cosmetic Items | Cost |
Chromas (excludes seasonal, limited, and legacy chromas) | 2,000 Blue Essence |
Emerald Chromas | 10,000 Blue Essence |
Mystery Icon | 1,500 Blue Essence |
Mystery Minis Icon Box | 2,500 Blue Essence |
Mystery Ward | 4,900 Blue Essence |
Essence Collector Ward Skin | 6,000 Blue Essence |
Baron Hat Poro Icon | 4,000 Blue Essence |
But Why? Emote | 25,000 Blue Essence |
Make It Rain Emote | 50,000 Blue Essence |
Money Bags Emote | 75,000 Blue Essence |
URFWick Skin | 150,000 Blue Essence |
Blue Essence Banner | 250,000 Blue Essence |
Do note that certain restrictions apply: only skins that have been available for six months or more will have chromas included in the Emporium, and there’s a daily cap of 20 Mystery Icons. However, there’s no limit to the number of chromas you can buy, as long as you have enough Blue Essence.
When Does the Essence Emporium Return?
The Essence Emporium traditionally runs twice a year—once in June and again in December—coinciding with major updates in League’s calendar.
- June marks the midseason patch, introducing significant gameplay changes.
- December aligns with the season’s end, ushering in preseason adjustments and gameplay updates.
These periods are prime opportunities for Riot to launch the Essence Emporium, ensuring maximum player engagement.
For reference, the last Essence Emporium ran from November 20 to December 11, 2024, lasting approximately three weeks. Players can expect a similar timeline for 2025, with the June event anticipated around mid-month.
