Throughout the leaderboard on Appstore and Google Playstore, Wild Rift doesn’t really reach a high position despite all the hype it receives.
Wild Rift is obviously a promising game. It is made by Riot and used tons of champions that are already well-famous in the League of Legends PC version. However, with the tremendous amount of MOBA games that are currently available on the mobile platform, Wild Rift will struggle to find a place inside fans’ hearts. Not to mention, before it is released, a lot of opinions pointed out that it was quite hard to play and their hands got really fatigued after a few hours of gaming.
Korean – Top 17
Let’s dig deeper, starting off with Korea, Wild Rift reaches Top 17 Free Apps after 7 weeks. Even though this is definitely not a bad result at all and Korea is a brutally competitive market, we are talking about a game that is widely hyped by the whole community and is carefully promoted (Faker was in this MV) by Riot.
Before it is released, we all can hope that it will be on top of all kinds of leaderboards similar to what Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile, etc had done before. Sadly, weeks after weeks, Wild Rift keeps getting de-rank over time and we will have to wait for Riot to improve the game’s state. There are also several regions that this game is suffering from.
Thailand – Rank 33
ROV or Arena of Valor (ROV is its name in the Thailand) easily knocks out Wild Rift to remain the best App on the country’s mobile platform. Even though we can predict that it will happen since ROV is extremely popular in Thailand, this happens so fast. This is not the only reason why WR keeps getting de-rank.
When looking further, the interesting part here is Heroes of Newerth – the most popular MOBA PC game right now in Thailand. HoN used to be a great game and a threat to League of Legends in the past and it still remains the king right now in Thailand. When thinking about competitive professional play in the South East Asia region, we hardly able to see any team from Thailand. Does it also mean that LoL is not a really popular game in that country anymore?
Indonesia – Rank 155
The worst country Wild Rift is performing is definitely Wild Rift when it drifts downward to the Top 155. When a game is at this rank, it will be a really rare occasion for it to make a comeback. Again, Indonesia is similar to Thailand, they don’t have a stable League of Legends concrete, the MOBA game that is shining in that country right now is Mobile Legends Bang Bang plays one of the most important roles in why Wild Rift is so losing at this point.
Other Asia’s Regions
Besides that, markets like Malaysia and Singapore are also counted but because their population is not high enough to consider. Even in Japan, Wild Rift ranks at the Top 350, which is fairly understandable where League of Legends never able to finds any success in this country.
In the end, after 7 weeks, it is not performing well at all and actually quite bad.
