LoL community outraged as Winterblessed Event Pass has rewards removed – Riot responded

Riot Games find themselves in yet another controversy, this time revolving around the Winterblessed 2023 event pass in League of Legends.

The event pass in League of Legends serves as a mechanism for players to amass event-themed loot, predominantly comprised of tokens, mythic and orange essence, Grab Bags, icons, and more.

New Winterblessed 2023 Event Pass changes

A source of considerable frustration for the player base stems from the slight adjustments made to the loot contents for the Winterblessed 2023 event. Players who have previously completed Event Passes may notice a reduction of one Grab Bag, a coveted item that often surpasses orbs in value due to its potential to yield multiple skin shards along with bonuses like gems or essence.

Additionally, the quantity of mythic and orange essence has been noticeably curtailed, with mythic essence now obtainable in increments of 5, 5, 5, and 10, as opposed to the previous 10, 10, 10, and 20 in the Worlds 2023 event pass. Orange essence has seen a reduction from 750 to 625, available only once.

Despite the community’s overall satisfaction with the newly introduced borders, concerns have been raised regarding their visual distinctiveness, or lack thereof. The trade-off of fewer Grab Bags and reduced essence has left many players questioning the perceived value of the Winterblessed 2023 event pass.

Responding to the widespread discontent, Riot BarackProbama took to Reddit to explain their perspective. They asserted that the decision to focus on winter-themed rewards at the expense of generic loot was made with the belief that players would appreciate the seasonal offerings more.

However, it is evident that Riot did not anticipate the dissatisfaction expressed by the community. Riot BarackProbama expressed openness to reconsidering their stance in the future, contingent upon a thorough examination of the overall community perception and feedback.
