In terms of diversity, League of Legends Worlds 2022 has been the most unique in the tournament’s history.
For the first time in the competition’s history, over 100 distinct champions were either chosen or banned. With the majority of the knockout stages still to be played, there will be plenty of chances to witness more off-meta picks.
Heimerdinger, who has been chosen mostly as a support champion at Worlds, is one of the best-performing off-meta selections.
Heimerdinger has had inconsistent success in the mid, top, and bot lane throughout League of Legends’ history. However, in Worlds 2022, the Revered Inventor established himself as one of the game’s most popular supports.
Zven and BeryL were the driving forces for the widespread of Heimerdinger support at Worlds 2022
At Worlds 2022, Heimerdinger was first picked by Cloud9 support Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen, but the champion didn’t win until he was pushed by DRX support Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee.
DRX won back-to-back matches with the champion in the second week of the group stage, eventually using the champion to finish first in Group C. According to League statistics Games of Legends, BeryL has played five games on Heimerdinger in total, winning four of them with a respectable 2.9 KDA.
Sorcery and Domination have been chosen as the primary rune and secondary rune for Heimer, respectively. Domination has been chosen as the secondary rune tree and Sorcery as the major rune tree by players. Arcane Comet can be activated by all three of the champion’s destructive abilities, making it the strongest Keystone rune for him.
Heimerdinger has some of the highest lane pressure in the game. Because to the innovator’s high burst damage, a player can one-shot almost anyone in the late game.
When his lane partner is a solid AD carry with great crowd control, Heimerdinger support is also successful. Champions that can keep their opponents CC-ed and within range of Heimerdinger’s turrets are far and away the finest options to join forces with him. Champions like Ashe, Jinx, Varus can pair well with Heimer support.
Deft chose Ashe with BeryL’s Heimerdinger in both of DRX’s victories with the champion, while T1 chose Ashe when they played with Heimer to defeat RNG in game one of their quarterfinal encounter.
