The Grand Final of Worlds 2024 are heated!
After a decisive 3-1 victory over Gen.G in the Worlds 2024 semifinals, T1 is now setting its sights on securing their fifth Worlds championship. This marks T1’s second consecutive appearance in the grand finals, reinforcing their status as one of the most dominant teams globally with unmatched skill and tactical prowess on the big stage.
Key players like Zeus and Faker haven’t held back their confidence, already setting their sights on defeating the LPL’s top seed, Bilibili Gaming (BLG), in the finals.
In a post-semifinals interview, Zeus candidly remarked:
“If there’s any team that’s concerning, it’s Gen.G. BLG, however, isn’t as intimidating.”
This statement highlights T1’s mindset and determination to remain unfazed by high-stakes matches or their opponent’s reputation. While BLG’s top laner Bin has shown formidable form, Zeus appears unfazed, expressing readiness for the challenge.
This bold confidence from T1 is noteworthy, as they have yet to claim a victory over BLG in a best-of-five series. Nevertheless, their recent triumph in breaking a 10-game losing streak to Gen.G has bolstered T1’s belief that they can finally overcome BLG.
T1’s resilience and adaptability have long been cornerstones of their success, especially during Worlds. Known for their remarkable ability to bounce back, T1 has consistently displayed peak performance in high-pressure situations.
Faker, the face of T1 and a driving force behind their consecutive finals appearances, attributes this success to rigorous preparation and sharp strategy. Since his debut in professional League of Legends in 2013, Faker has been a part of all four of T1’s Worlds championships (2013, 2015, 2016, and 2023), and he describes reaching the finals three years in a row as an “unmatched honor.”
T1’s ADC, Gumayusi, emphasized that the team’s grasp on the current meta has given them a critical edge.
“Worlds has a unique atmosphere that drives us to perform at our best,”
“I think we understand the meta better than any other team this year.”
T1’s bot lane duo of Gumayusi and Keria demonstrated this strength in the semifinals, where their Ashe and Renata Glasc combo swiftly dismantled Gen.G in a mere 29 minutes in game one—showcasing T1’s adaptability and mastery over the meta.
Despite BLG’s strong mechanics and constant improvement, Faker and his team remain undeterred. Faker expressed his determination to give the fans a match to remember, saying, “I want to savor the finals and give it my all. Win or lose, our series with BLG will be unforgettable.” With their wealth of experience and indomitable spirit, T1 is poised for the finals, hoping their “champion DNA” will carry them to a historic fifth title.
League of Legends Worlds 2024 Finals will go live on this Saturday, November 2nd 2024.
