24 down, 85 teams remain in the race for Worlds 2022

This week, August 1-7, we say goodbye to another 12 teams worldwide as they are beaten by the fierce competition. Last week we finally dropped to double-digit amount of contender from 109 total. The dirty dozen chronologically were: (via Liquipedia)

  1. MAMMOTH Esports Club (LCO)
  2. Ultra Prime (LPL)
  3. Rare Atom (LPL)
  4.  PEACE (LCO)
  5.  V3 Esports (LJL)
  6.  Dewish Team (PCS)
  7.  Nongshim RedForce (LCK)
  8. LGD Gaming (LPL)
  9.  All Knights (LLA)
  10.  Liberty (CBOL)
  11.  Freecs (LCK)
  12. Team AURORA (TCL)

The most recognized name crossed out this week is likely LGD Gaming after they were topped by Top Esports. The Chinese squad had been a household name in the LPL despite never having been dominant outside of several good seasons in 2014-2015 and 2020. Such a shame because their Dota counterparts are the world’s strongest team at the moment leading up to TI 11

As more regions head into playoffs this week, more names will be crossed out until we’re left with the final 24

Though we’re a little bit kinda sorta sad having to say farewell to the 12 teams last week, the show goes on! We’ll keep you updated on Worlds 2022 elimination process, see you next week!
