TSM revealed today that Bjergsen will be departing the team after eight seasons.
Sren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, TSM’s iconic mid laner, stated on Thursday that he will leave the team for the 2022 season to join a different organization. Bjergsen, who was believed to be returning to professional play in early September, was the face of TSM for eight years, both as a player and, most recently, as a coach, until 2020.
As a player, Bjergsen has won 4 MVPs and 6 LCS championships, placing him second all-time behind another North American legend, Doublelift. In 2015, the Danish mid laner led TSM to victory over China’s Team WE at IEM Katowice.
Though TSM gave Bjergsen a “very competitive offer” on Oct. 1, he turned it down today, confirming both his return to pro play and his joining in another team.
TSM CEO and Founder Andy “Reginald” Dinh remarked, “As for plans for our roster, we are currently looking at a variety of options.” “We tend to focus on up and coming players and to build our team culture around these rising stars.”
Parth “Parth” Naidu, a TSM employee, stated that the team would not play an all-rookie lineup after this, instead of focusing on the best team for 2022 that also had room for future progression.
Bjergsen has been playing professionally since the beginning of 2013, joining TSM at the conclusion of the year, where he spent eight years of his nine-year career. “This is the place I grew up and I’ll be forever grateful for them taking a chance on me as a young player in 2013,” the renowned midlaner said, adding that he was thrilled to show his supporters his next move.
