Why Chemtech is making a return to League? – Riot can answer that

Chemtech drake is unquestionably the most despised League of Legends dragon.

The Drake was initially introduced at the start of Season 12 and was later removed owing to its unplayable characteristics. Many players were irritated with the disguised map and Drake’s revive mechanism with soul.

From the camouflage landscape when Chemtech drakes start appearing to the resurrecting feature after you obtain the soul. Yet, the controversial drake is making a comeback in the 2023 preseason, and Riot Games has revealed why.

Riot explained why they’re bringing back Chemtech Drake

Lead designer Matthew Leung-Harrison recently spoke with Comic Book about Riot’s reasoning for Chemtech drake, why it was created in the first place, and why it had to leave.

“We had just released Arcane, and people really liked Zaun and that kind of thing. But we thought that the gameplay was just over the bar of frustration, and it’s something that’s kind of difficult for us to assess internally because we only get so many games to play it,”

“For Chemtech specifically, we think the thematic was extremely resonant with players,”

Riot devs were enthusiastic about this drake and worked tirelessly to make it work since they thought the concept connected with the player community.

Matthew Leung-Harrison continued to explain why the company is bringing back the drake. He said that the team did really love the style and visual design, and the thematic idea behind the competition between it and Hextech Drake.

While the theme of the previous version was dark, gloomy Chemfog, the devs promised us the next version of the drake will be much more vibrant.

“The avenue for the thematic for Chemtech that we went with the Chemfog was very gloomy, dark, and kind of sad, whereas the new Chemtech is a lot more vibrant.”

 While the description seems exciting and all, we’ll have to wait and see for the final result.
