Pantheon is promised to “shift away from support and back into solo lanes”
As hinted by Riot Games a few months ago, Pantheon will be able to change his role by receiving some adjustments to his abilities. Today, RiotPhlox outlines a detail of the upcoming Pantheon changes, and it will be implemented on PBE and on the live server in patch 10.25
Unfortunately, during season 2020, Pantheon was more than any other position, he has been considered as a powerful support pick in the lead to Worlds 2020 that contrast to the initial goal of a solo lane champion. Therefore, the purpose of these changes is to take away some pro play strategy and support/mid lane power to give top lane a place to shine. He will be followed up if necessary to make any balance adjustments.
On the PBE, Riot is experimenting on the whole with all these changes.
Developers are reducing Pantheon’s base movement speed from 355 to 345 while decreasing the cooldown on his Comet Spear (Q) from 10/9.5/9/8.5/8 to 8/7.5./7/6.5/6 and its mana cost from 40 to 30. The slow on his Empowered Comet Spear (Q) is also being removed.
As for his Shield Vault (W), Riot is increasing its damage from 60/80/100/120/140 to 60/110/160/210/260, whereas reducing the “retreat movement penalty” on its Aegis Assault (E) from 50% to 25%. Besides, the ability will no longer block the towers or extend its duration to empowerment, to coincide with these changes. Rather, after slamming his shield, he will gain 60% movement speed for a second.
Pantheon’s ultimate Grand Starfall (R) also gets a new interaction. When using his ult, the spear that lands before Pantheon will slow by 50 percent and impose an unempowered “spear’s worth of damage” in a “small area” surrounding it.
The proposed adjustments are expected to roll out to the League’s PBE in the days ahead, leading to Patch 10.25 on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
