Top Esports’ top laner Yu “Qingtian” Zi-Han was fined one month’s wages when Faker discovered him purposefully feeding the other team while solo queuing in a ranked game
On March 9, legendary League of Legends player Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok was streaming a ranked game when he came across an Aatrox player who wasn’t playing to his full potential. Faker stated the guy was always throwing and had a horrible attitude since he had a KDA of 0/16 at the end of the game.
But it was not until after Faker voiced his complaints did he realized that player was Qingtian, a substitute top laner for Top Esports playing on the Korean server from China.
The League of Legends community praised Faker for speaking out against toxic conduct, claiming that he is likely one of the only voices in the community capable of effecting change as a consequence of his statements. Unfortunately, this isn’t a new issue in ranked play.
Following the event, Faker claimed on stream that Chinese pro players had continued to obtain “super accounts” on Korean servers. Some of these Chinese players may purposefully misbehave on the servers, causing matches to be ruined, he claims. Apparently, these concerns have caused him to have encountered in the past, with him claiming that the experience was of the “lowest quality” he’s ever had.
As for Qingtian, Top Esports posted a statement on the organization’s official Weibo, saying that the team noticed Qingtian’s poor behavior and will punish him. The organization will also increase its training and player oversight. Top Esports responded that the organization was fining Qingtian the equivalent of one month’s salary for his improper online behavior.
