Fans were disappointed with the Worlds 2022 Anthem song STAR WALKIN’

Riot Games officially announced the new anthem for League of Legends Worlds 2022, Star Walkin’, on September 23. The Grammy Award-winning rapper Lil Nas X performed the 2022 anthem, which was a tremendous occasion.

However, it appears that the anthem did not resonate with fans, with the video and song generating overwhelmingly unfavorable responses from the majority of the community. There were several concerns regarding the quality, the manner in which it was presented, the video’s substance, and the general attractiveness of the song itself.

Worlds 2022 Anthem song fell short of players’ expectation

The World Championship’s official song is a noteworthy event for fans since it commemorates the largest tournament in League of Legends. So, expectations for the same are fairly high, as prior anthems such as Legends Never Die and Phoenix have set a high standard.

This time, not just the general fanbase, but even pro players and casters, thought that the MV fell short.

Some people even thought the music sounded more like a commercial for the new Mecha skins for Twisted Fate, Rell, and Thresh. They thought the video lacked passion and direction.

However, the criticisms did not stop there. Many people believed that the video might have featured more players. The MV focused mostly on CoreJJ, Meiko, Humanoid, and Chovy, who represent just 3 of the 24 teams competing in the competition (CoreJJ didn’t even qualify for Worlds).

There were several easter eggs in the video that represented other players, but some believed the producers could have made them more obvious. Many others believed it was insulting to all of the teams and players who worked hard to get to this stage.

The famous moments in the videos were what made past League of Legends Worlds anthems so popular. In this occasion, though, the music moved at a glacial pace. The video was also pretty uninteresting, consisting primarily of pointless panoramic images.

Phoenix give me goosebumps

One of the issues with the Worlds 2022 songs is that Riot Games has raised the bar with prior anthems. Rise, Legends Never Die, and Phoenix are impossible to outperform. This puts the developers in a tough position for future versions.
