Except for the IG fans, a huge part of Chinese League of Legends gamers are directing criticism at IG’s Top laners – TheShy.
The friendly tournament between China and Korea became an “extended LPL” with the civil war between two Chinese teams: TOP Esports and FunPlus Phoenix in the final. The Chinese still assert their absolute dominance in LoL Worlds. However, in the middle of that proud achievement, there was still a minus point called Invictus Gaming.
The champion of 2018 World Championship continued to have a series of disappointing games, when they lost all the matches in the 2020 Mid-Season Cup tournament. Invictus Gaming became the only LPL representative to be eliminated from the group stage, without even having a victory.
Besides the failure of IG, TheShy is the name that makes fans disappointed the most. No longer the silhouette of a superstar Top Laner of the world, his performance in the last tournament is quite “lifeless”. With only 2 kills in total 3 games while having “lay down” to… 18 times, KDA 0.4 – All the statistics are extremely bad compared to the real level of TheShy. But what is worth mentioning here is the reaction from the Chinese fan community on his terrible performances.

On forums, social medias,…. the keyword “TheShy” has reached the top searching in the couple last few days, not just because of his popularity, there was a wave of criticism that has rised abnormally. Many Chinese LoL players have been cursing and personally attacking TheShy for IG’s failure:
– Now TheShy is synonymous with “trash”.
– Lucian 0/6/0. Blinded my eyes.
– I’ve been watching him stream all the time, he don’t have much energy to play, probably making too much money makes him lose his willpower.
– How the hell can you choose Lucian Top lane? Do you think your opponent is a “fuzzy chicken”? Or still delusioning yourself as a No.1 Toplaner, “out” level to all of them, in all matches?
– TheShy is exactly like “one season player”, the level is far to compare withFaker and Uzi.
– If I were Rookie, I’d have hit the keyboard in his face.

TheShy is suffering from a wave of intense criticism from the Chinese LoL community
Evenly, some rumors have been confirmed that captain IG Rookie was extremely upset with a few teammates, namely Ning and TheShy for their superficial attitude. And this makes the wave of criticism TheShy increasingly much more stronger.
It’s true that when having poor performance, it is very normal to receive negative comments; however, it seems that many Chinese fans are overreacting to the recent developments of League of Legends.
We could agree that TheShy is losing himself, but it’s also hard for us to ask players to play like a machine and maintain stability throughout the days and months. Remember when this Korean player brought Kalista or the other ADCs to Top lane and destroyed all opponents at the earlier season, he received countless compliments.
But ironically, those same champions are the reason TheShy is criticized for his “attitude” when he fails. A lot of negative comments are offensive, not contributing to professional improvement, it’s only proves that a part of Chinese fans are overreacting in judging the players.
From a relentlessly praised hero who helped LPL win the championship for the first time at Worlds 2018, TheShy is now experiencing the worst days of his career when his fans turned their back and did not regret about their criticism.
