Holding the middle finger, LoL player was only slightly punished

Holding the middle finger – Sangyoon should probably feel lucky that his actions did not receive a heavy punishment from the Korean League of Legends agency.

On April 28, the LCK 2020 Summer Split Round was kicked off with the participation of 4 teams: the last 2 LCK teams were Griffin and SANDBOX, and the two teams with the best were Seorabeol Gaming and Team Dynamics.

In the match between Griffin and Seorabeol Gaming, the team from the Korean 2nd division defeated the former LCK runner-up 2-1, and in the excitement after the victory, their AD carry Sangyoon took an offensive action by raising his “middle finger” and was recorded by the camera.

Sangyoon’s actions were later discovered, but when investigating the incident, the player said he only raised his middle finger at Nova – his teammate with a joke, not a provocation and Riot Games Korea issued a “warning” for this behaviour.

Will LoL have an anti-backdoor mechanism or signal a new Volibear?

The warning penalty from Riot Korea may be considered a blessing for Sangyoon because the LoL Park gymnasium had no audience at the time, so this player’s action was not considered to cause bad influence.

If he dared to raise his “middle finger” in front of hundreds of live viewers, surely the punishment that this guy will receive will be much heavier, and it is highly likely that he will be banned for a limited time.

Holding the middle finger

If you are a loyal audience of LCK, then surely there will be no stranger to the name Sangyoon. This player used to have a long time in the colours of many middle-class teams in the Korean League of Legends tournament like Afreeca Freecs, ROX Tigers (after Peanut, Smeb, PraY…out team) and The latter is Hanwha Life.

In October 2019, the 1995-year-old player announced his retirement, but only two months later, he returned to the professional arena to wear Seorabeol Gaming – a team of “out-of-date stars” like Thal or KaKAO, with the ambition to return to the LCK.

After defeating Griffin in the first round, Sangyoon’s SRB suffered a 0-2 defeat in the finals of the winning team against Team Dynamics and gave the first ticket to the LCK Summer 2020 Split to the opponent. They will be waiting in the losers’ final to welcome one of the two opponents: SANDBOX Gaming or Griffin to determine the final name to attend the LCK.
