While Riot Phreak is not exactly sure how the update will turn out, he feels the adjustments are important. Riot Phreak feels the pool in solo queue is pretty balanced, which accounts for much of the rationale.

Champions including as Heimerdinger, Lulu, and even Ashe and Jhin have been dominating the support pool in professional play. To combat this, the new Support Changes will arrive during the upcoming PBE cycle and engage supports in the meta.
