Kassadin has gotten new splash art on League of Legends PBE server, which varies considerably from how the champion has appeared in the game.
Since the start of season 12, Riot Games hinted that there will be some changes in the story of the Void, with the update of Malzahar’s lore to aid in introducing some new Void champions this year in League of Legends. More details on the void-themed event may be on the way, according to some new visual artwork for the Void Walker.
The artwork represents Kassadin in a more powerful, Void-like than we have previously seen.
For now, it’s unknown why Riot suddenly updated Kassadin splash art that looks way different from his in-game model. Perhaps it’s a new skin for him (similar to Unbound Thresh from the Sentinels of Light event), an un-published in-game VFX, or even a potential VGU overhaul.
In comparison to Kassadin’s present splash image, this variation offers him traits similar to those seen on, Kai’Sa, like shoulder pads with spooky purple Void spikes. This new splash also makes his mask look much scarier by removing some of the tubes and sharpening the horns.
The new splash, in particular, highlights his human shape. The torn robe also exhibits unmistakable traces of strain and suffering throughout his travels as the Void Walker.
Kassadin hasn’t been reworked in a long time, and his graphics haven’t been significantly updated since his release. There’s no word on what this new splash image could entail for him in the future so stay tune for any Void-like information.
