Technical problems marred the LCS series between TSM and Evil Geniuses. Additionally, the tension between TSM and EG on twitter was raised as a result of the annoyance with the pause.
TSM has recently been in trouble due to the investigation into the company’s owner, Andy Dihn, and LoL coach Peter Zhang’s involvement in the significant controversy. Despite everything that is going on at TSM organizationally, their LoL team has been able to advance quite far in the Playoffs. However, during this gap, TSM’s head of global social, Dunc, fired shots at Evil Geniuses following some major technical difficulties.
Pausing reason
According to Artemis, a member of EG, there was a problem with the audio for both teams, but Riot authorities refused to let the teams try to continue playing through the delay and instead imposed the lengthy interruption.
Seven different pauses, most of which occurred in the game’s closing moments, broke up EG and TSM’s match during the second game of today’s playoff series. After the second game ended, the teams did not take the stage for another two hours while LCS engineers worked to address audio problems that had hampered both teams in the early stages of the series.
After the delay, the two sides resolved to continue the series despite the problems in an effort to avoid having to postpone it. They decided to play with the general issue because both teams were impacted by the audio issues, which they saw as a distinct competitive disadvantage for both teams.
Evil Geniuses and TSM completed five complete games of League of Legends today despite the best efforts of the esports gods. TSM was eliminated from contention for the Worlds 2022 after a swath of delays and pauses, including one that lasted more than two hours. EG defeated TSM 3-2.
EG are currently one series away from winning the World Championship in 2022. The only team standing in their way is Team Liquid, and regardless of how the rest of the LCS Championship turns out, whoever wins that win-or-go-home encounter on September 4 advances directly to Worlds.
TSM has now been disqualified from the Worlds competition. The club made a minor comeback in the summer but still left early after missing the playoffs in the Spring Split. Due to their contracts with the team expiring in November, TSM’s two current starters, Solo and Spica, will be eligible for free agency later this year.
